Thanks to Melissa for her post about Jerry Fuchs! Although I have never personally met a musician that changed my live, it did make me think of all the music and lyrics of bands that have had a major impact in my life. I have always listened to music to express my emotions. I think everyone does. There is a song that goes with every human emotion you can possibly think of.  I also love listening to music that really move you and push you to feel and think about things outside of yourself.

Here are some lyrics that have in one way or another impacted my life. There are lots of Bjork I know. What can I say. She helped me survive lots of heartache. I love you Bjork!

1.             I have become Comfortably Numb’ Comfortably NumbPink Floyd

The Essential Travel Pillow!

Really Lyndia? YES really! The travel pillow IS essential for all travelers. If you’re not lucky enough to be in one of these, you’ll need one I promise.
We are all too familiar with the ‘I’m trying to sleep in this small space with the seats that hardly lean back without touching the person next to me” dance. It’s the same 4 or 5 positions that we seem to try over and over again until we are finally too sleepy to care and just pass out. Here are just a few.

  1. The lay straight back position that makes your head flop left and right the moment you doze off. Only the talented that don’t move when they sleep can pull of this position. Others just end up with whiplash or with their head hanging down in front of them drooling.
  2. Me, I like to sleep on my side so I try the lay back with my head turned position. Flipping back and forth from my right to left and left to right every time I start to feel my neck go numb.
  3. How about trying to lift both legs on your seat and lay your head on your knees? Yeah that’s a really comfortable one.
  4. If you’re lucky enough to get a window seat you can always use one of their small pillows to lean on the wall of the airplane. Of course there is always that gap between your seat and the concave airplane wall that causes your pillow to slip and fall repeatedly.

These are all reasons to BRING A TRAVEL PILLOW WITH YOU. They work and your neck will love you for it. My favorite travel pillow is just your regular old donut shaped travel pillow. I have an awesome Temperpedic one but the $10 ones you can get at the airport works great also.( They can be useful for sitting on too if you happen do something retarded like jump off a bridge into a river and bruise your tail bone. So I’ve heard).   Here are just a few to check out

Thirty Days of Thanks – Health, Faith & Support Systems

There are so many things in life we take for granted. We all realize that from time to time. Lately I have been faced with the one thing that I think we all take the most for granted…Our health.  I am thankful not only for my own health but for the health of those whom I love around me. Our bodies are so complex and function in the most delicate of balances. We don’t realize how lucky we are until something goes wrong.

My fiancé and I have been spending most of our time in the Methodist Hospital CV ICU waiting room the last two weeks. A very close member of the family underwent a pretty intensive surgery called   esophagectomy .   The surgery was a success but due to other complications he is having a hard time recovering.

It has been very difficult for the entire family but through these hard times I have witnessed some amazing acts of faith and support. I often wondered how some people make it through what seem to be impossible hardships in their lives. Now I’ve seen it. It is through Faith and a great support system.  This support can come from your family, friends, manager and co-workers.   It can even come in small doses from a complete stranger in the hospital waiting room offering you homemade cookies. It all adds up and it does make a huge difference. Your support system can also give you Faith.   When things seem hopeless, it is through the faith of others that I sometimes find myself pulling through.  In the ICU waiting room, this is what I consistently see around me, Faith and support.

So here it is. I ask everyone to please think about how lucky you are to have your health, to think about how Faith has gotten you through life and to be thankful for your support system.
