Thanks to Melissa for her post about Jerry Fuchs! Although I have never personally met a musician that changed my live, it did make me think of all the music and lyrics of bands that have had a major impact in my life. I have always listened to music to express my emotions. I think everyone does. There is a song that goes with every human emotion you can possibly think of.  I also love listening to music that really move you and push you to feel and think about things outside of yourself.

Here are some lyrics that have in one way or another impacted my life. There are lots of Bjork I know. What can I say. She helped me survive lots of heartache. I love you Bjork!

  1. There are too many lyrics for me to choose from. If I had to, I would post every. single. word from 32 Flavors. Originally by Ani Difranco, I prefer the version by Alana Davis.

  2. Great post, Lyndia!

I think mine would be something along the lines of 'aaaayyyeeee aaayyyy dancin' in september – aaaayyyeeeaaayeeaaaayeaaa!'

  3. Profound article I enjoyed it. Someone else once said: If you are pointing out one of the things a story is about, then you are very probably right; if you are pointing out the only thing a story is about you are very probably wrong even if you’re the author.

  4. Hey, excellent web site. I actually discovered this upon Bing, and i am pleased Used to do. I’ll certainly be returning here more often. Desire I possibly could increase the conversation as well as bring a little more to the desk, but ‘m simply taking in as much info as I will at the moment. Thanks

  5. This is great! I was just talking about a similar subject with my daughter a couple days ago. I am looking forward to seeing what they thinks about your post. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  6. I get overwhelmed just thinking about trying to put together a list of all the lyrics that have moved me over the years. There are simply too many. However, I will state that the following lyric written by Maynard James Keenan, from the song Brena, has had an amazing impact on my life:

    "Vulnerable, It's alright"

It reminds me of one of the most important lessons learned in my life. You see, there was a time when I created barriers between myself and the world around me as protection, a shield. I thought I was being strong. Then I learned that true strength is having the courage to allow yourself to be vulnerable to the world, to people and experience, no matter what the sort.

  7. People will differ with me, but I think that the President is trying to look out for least of us here at the expense of fiscal discipline. You can armchair quarterback about how this fight should’ve gone down, but the GOP has made clear that they don’t care about spending has long as they get their goodies. I’m keeping the faith for now and I predict you will see the fight renewed in 2012.

  8. Unfortunately, there are no rules or requirements for membership in the Democratic party. Any crook or charlatan can claim to be a Democrat and use party resources to help fund their elections, only to turn around and vote as a Republican on every issue which matters. The Back-stabbers Squad you have named (Baucus, Nelson, Conrad, Landrieu, et al.) should already have been expelled from the party for their conniving and conspiring with the right-wing to sabotage important votes.
